  1. make sure you have the money to invest in a bearded dragon, they take alot of care and need a large tank, at 2 - 3 different types of lights, food, calcium supplement. depending on the size bearded dragons can eat between 50 - 60 crickets a week, which you can buy at your local pet store. they can cost alot for first time owners.

  2. bearded Dragons, despite their popularity and hardiness are very expensive especially for the first time buyer. Now the actual lizard itself usually costs around 40-50$ (a standard mutation) from a decent breeder but its not the lizard your have to worry about but the actual equipment, prey items, prey supplies, and overall vet and health visits that will really take a toll on your wallet. Being a diurnal desert lizard beardies need strong lighting as well as undertank heating requirements(basking temps should be 100-105 degrees while cool end of the tank should read about 80-85 degrees. Be sure to invest in a temp/humidity probe too! Also they need a solid safe substrate NO SAND! Even THOUGH IT LOOKS PRETTY.....it can be deadly especially if your beardie manages to gulp some of it down while eating. Use tile, reptile carpet, newspaper,or paper towel instead.  They also need hides on the cool end and warm end, a basking log (preferably something heavy and sturdy like a good piece of driftwood) and a large water dish. Juveniles will usually need a tank of 10 gallons but will outgrow and by the time they are full grown they will probably need a 60 gallon breeder with a sturdy lid which can really put a dent in your wallet. Juveniles also need an ample supply of crickets(up to 100 a day for some small juveniles but 60 a day is more common) and leafy greens that have been gutloaded and supplemented with calcium every other day and then maybe once or twice a week with a multivitamin. The tank should be sprayed with a cool mist of water once  day preferably right on the animals head to keep him hydrated but keep the dish full of water full in his cage as well. Once a week you should also clean the cage out with a reptile disinfectant. I really hope this help and good luck with your beardie.
