My bearded dragon always tries to get out of the water basin I bathe him in. Can I get him to calm down? Every time I put him in he freezes, then splashes about and tries to climb the edge. Can I calm him down?

  1. Put him in lukewarm water--He is a coldblooded animal!

Maybe use a damp washcloth instead.

  2. Put him in a clean bathtub, so he has room to go where he wants. Make sure the room/tub aren't cold. And only fill the tub with a small level of water. Make sure it's not to deep, usually in most tubs it'll be deeper near the drain. I would make sure the water level an inch or less at the shallow part-so he gets wet and use to it-then slide him gradually into the deeper part-btw important to be in a warm room or the shallow bath temps will get cold fast.

Not before long he'll be comfortable so that you can raise the water levels so the shallow side covers up to his shoulders and he'll be swimming in an S motion back and forth and trying to drink the watet--I know bathwater isn't good to drink btw so give water beforehand...
