Question:

Beardie - normal behavior?

My little baby Titan has started to shed. Is it normal for them to rub on things? He's been rubbing his face all over his branches.

Also, we have our first salad eating today! I'm so excited! I know we're not supposed to leave crickets in there with him, so should I leave fresh salad in there at all times and feed him his crickets 2-3 times a day? Or should I take out his salad too? I was shocked he even ate his salad. I read that they don't start eating veggies until they're almost adult! =D

  1. yes the rubing is 100% normal but i dont know the answers to the rest cuz i was to lazy to even read it!=]

  2. Yes he is supposed to rub on things. He is just rubbing off the itchy shed skin. it is normal.

Salad, huh? It is good to start them eating salad early, otherwise they wont touch the stuff. Same goes for squash, apples and other fuit and veggies. (make sure he has a variety, but make sure you chop up the pieces small)

Go with the "feed him the crickets later" plan. though chances are he might not eat them because he will be full of salad.

If you leave the salad in there with him, he will ignore it or try to bury it once he is done. Mine takes breaks between bites, so you never know when he is completely done.

I say leave the salad in, and retreve it later when he isnt showing any more interest.

  3. leave fresh veggies in everyday, and take him out to feed crickets.

this way you can keep an eye on how many crickets he is eating, and offer fresh veggies for him to get used too.

    :D

  4. My guy likes cantalope, carrots, tomatoes (good for vit c), red, green and yellow peppers (feed peppers only ocassionally), leave the salad bowl in there for the day and give the crickets once a day if he is starting to eat salad, you don't want him to get fat.

  5. yes he is rubbing against stuff to aid him in shedding- I keep salad mixture in their with mine at all times- I would feed him crickets 2 times daily and it is okay to leave the salad in their while you feed him crickets- My baby beardie loves the variety- if you do not offer him a variety they can become very picky with what they eat!
