Ok, so I have this Beared Dragon she's like 3 years old, but we got her like a month ago from my sister in law. we always thought it was a male but I guess not!!

So today she was outside in the baby pool, sunbathing and when I was gonna get her out she was really mean, she tried to bite me and she had never done that b4,,,

So as i'm cleaning the pool there's this little egg shape thing, I research the internet and yes it's an egg. The problem is she has never been with a male... Couldn't find any answer for that on line.

Does anyone know how is this possible????? and is it fertile?

  1. Females of many reptile species will lay eggs despite never mating.  They are infertile, and it doesnt matter if you take the eggs or let her keep them, you will have to remove them eventually because they will begin to rot. They can lay a partial clutch or a whole clutch.  So its completely normal, just means your girl is healthy!

  2. It is possible that your bearded dragon stored sperm from when you got her. She may just be passing eggs right now. I doubt it though because she would have to pass more than one egg. The only other option is that she passed an infertile egg. It can happen to any reptile. My ball python Patty has done it before. The most likely cause for this is that she passed an infertile egg. It's a common thing, so no worries. Mothers will be protective of their eggs, even if they are infertile. It is a natural instinct in them.

Hope this helps! :) Good luck!
