Bears' LB Urlacher unimpressed with Broncos QB Tim Tebow – NFL News
Chicago Bears are still hurt after the overtime defeat to Denver Broncos 13-10 on Sunday that has jeopardised their chances of reaching the National Football League Playoffs.
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was especially incensed with the loss. Talking to reporters Sunday after his team’s third straight loss, the linebacker sarcastically mocked Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow whose popularity is soaring
across the NFL.
"He's a good running back ... He does a good job for them," Urlacher told reporters when asked about Tebow.
Urlacher’s fellow linebacker Lance Briggs also did not single out Tebow for praise preferring to congratulate the whole Broncos team on a hard-fought victory.
"Played hard," Briggs said. "I respect a guy who plays hard. Him and all the other 10 guys on the field for the Broncos.
The quarterback, when asked for his response to Urlacher’s words, refused to be drawn in a war of words with Chicago’s linebackers saying
"Coming from a really good player, that means a lot," Tebow said.
Tebow has been winning fans with each game as the Broncos won their sixth straight game. Since regularly starting for Denver Broncos, the quarterback has won six out his seven games, taking the Broncos from 2-5 after his first
game to 8-5 and top of the American Football Conference West with a playoff-spot virtually guaranteed.
After a scoreless first half, Chicago Bears took a 10-0 lead with a third quarter touchdown from Marion Barber and Robbie Gould’s early fourth quarter field goal as Tebow struggled to penetrate a dogged Bears defence.
Running back Marion Barber would, however, go from hero to villain for the Bears as he ran out of bounds late in the fourth quarter when the Bears were looking to comfortably run down the clock. Broncos got possession back and
it was the cue for Tebow Mania to take over Soldier Field.
Tebow sent a wonderful 10-yard pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas for Broncos to start their comeback with just two minutes left on the clock. Kicker Matt Prater then sent an inspired 59-yard field goal through the uprights
to tie the game and go to overtime.
The Broncos kicker was called on again in overtime to score the winning three points with a 51-yard field goal to send Broncos to sole possession of the top spot in AFC West.
