Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler hopes to practise again in few weeks – NFL News
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is working hard to return onto the field after a thumb injury during the game week 11 encounter against San Diego Chargers counted him out of the side for the rest of the regular season.
"We were doing some grip stuff this past week, trying to get some flexibility and mobility back in there," Cutler said. "The next couple of weeks hopefully I'll be able to throw the football and hopefully some of this pain subsides."
With Cutler nursing his injured thumb back to health, Chicago Bears have struggled to continue their run to the playoffs. The Bears have lost the last two games since Cutler’s injury jeopardising their bid to make the postseason.
Cutler’s rehabilitation is right on the track and the quarterback is hopeful to return by the end of the regular season or even earlier to help Bears get back on the winning ways.
"Everything is kind of on track, it's just a matter of letting that bone really heal and maybe taking the pins out, maybe not," Cutler said. "It's just time and time is not really on our side right now, but that's the only thing
we can really do."

Time is really not on their side. The Bears have stuck with backup Caleb Hanie to play the quarterback role in the business end of the season instead of turning to a veteran quarterback.
With Hanie running the team’s engine, Chicago Bears have struggled for results. Hanie has been intercepted three times in both the games he has started with the Bears losing by big margins.
Last Sunday’s 10-3 loss to Kansas City Chiefs was particularly painful as Chicago’s offense struggled to gain significant yards.
Cutler went to Colorado for surgery after refusing to be treated by Bears own surgical team under Dr. Randy Viola who had two pins and three screws inserted into his thumb to stabilise the thumb while allowing Cutler the flexibility
to grip the football like before.
The quarterback’s return is still doubtful before the end of the regular season and Bears will hope that Hanie finally comes good to keep their playoff dreams alive.
