Beasley and Stoudemire hold hopes of Timberwolves and Knicks
The Minnesota Timberwolves have lost five straight seasons. On the other hand the New York Knicks have also not shown a better performance because they lost nine in a row.
The last game that they played together on October 6, 2010 was won by the Timberwolves 106-100.
Both the teams need to improve on their power forwards in order to move ahead this season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks will face each other on Friday night at the Target Center, Minneapolis, MN. Michael Beasley has recently scored his career high score of 42 points while playing against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
This was the first win of the season for the Wolves 98-89. Amare Stoudemire is there to match the charismatic Beasley.
Beasley is very confident after scoring his 42 points and expressed his feelings when he said, “I looked up and was like, 'Wow.' It just felt like we were flowing right, like the game was flowing in our direction”.
Beasley and Stoudemire used to play for more successful clubs in their last stops. They switched conferences and after that joined moribund teams. The Timberwolves have covered two seasons successfully after having Beasley aboard. On the other hand Stoudemire
has had one loss out of eight while playing with the Phoenix Suns.
Both the players were traded to different teams for different reasons. Beasley was having maturity problems. This made him vulnerable enough to be traded to Minnesota Timberwolves (2-7).
Stoudemire was not thought to be worthy enough of a contract that is close to $100 million that he afterwards signed with the New York Knicks (3-5).
However, if both the players are reviewed now they are both outshining the other players on their teams. Beasley is dominant with his 18.1 scoring average. Stoudemire is at the top of the New York Knicks with an average of 21.1 points per game.
The forwards have played three games before this as well. Stoudemire averaged 16.0 points and 11.7 boards whereas Beasley scored an average of 11.0 points and 6.3 boards.
The 21 year old player Beasley sounds all tough and ready to match any challenge after he made 17 of his 31 shots and scoring a career high 42 points. He entered the contest averaging 14.1 after that.
Beasley is feared and admired by opponents, this is clear when one of them said, "He's a tough matchup with his height, length, size and offensive capabilities. He's one of those unique players who can score in a myriad of ways".
While Beasley helped the Timberwolves win with his 42 points, the Knicks lost their third straight game to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday 122-117. In that game Stoudemire earned his season high 33 points and 10 rebounds.
The New York Knicks rely a lot on the three pointers. Although they have been successful in scoring a career high 201, the one thing that takes them down is that their shooting is just 32.8 percent, putting them at the bottom of the league.
One thing that is common between both the teams is that both of them haven’t played well defensively. Positively they have both shown some improvement in blocking shots.
Both the teams were ranked in the bottom three in the last season in that category. The Knicks have a league leading 58 in 2010-11 and Minnesota Timberwolves are slowly trailing behind them with their 46. 25 years old Serbian professional center Darko Milicic
has a great contribution of 22 in that 46.
