Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney claims that it would definitely mean a lot more if his side win the Premier League at the expense of rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils’ are currently top of the table after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s men failed to get the better of Sunderland at home. The Blues’ slump in form means that they are two points behind in the title race and with only seven games to go, United are obvious favourites now.
However this season has been far from an easy one for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 and his teammates, who at one point were condemned to a shameful 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford by their ‘noisy neighbors’.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson and his squad, though, have shown an inert amount of composure to get back into the title race and after capitalizing on the woeful form of their cash-rich opponents, they truly deserve their place at the summit of Premiership.
The two point gap can potentially rise to five point one, meaning that it cannot be cut short by City in the games that remain and unless the Reds have a major drop in form, it is getting increasingly likely that the trophy will remain at Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney for one claims that it would make the win even more sweeter as it would destroy City’s ambitions along the way.
“Would it mean something extra because City are challenging? Yes, of course."
“It’s the first time for many years that United and City have been going head to head for the title. To win it would be great for the players, the fans and the club as a whole and it would definitely be one of the best titles we’ve ever won if we can do it.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 man also added that this year’s season was one of the most competitive he had ever witnessed and that nothing other than the very best from every player would be enough to end things on a high note.
“It’s probably more challenging than it has ever been to win the title. You have to be at your best in every game; you can’t perform at 75 per cent and expect to win it,” Rooney claimed.
Manchester United take on struggling Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at Ewood Park today, with a win surely placing them on course for an unprecedented 20th title.
