Beatriz Corrales beats Kim Na Young in title match of 2013 Li-Ning Romanian International
Women’s Singles shuttler Beatriz Corrales remained invincible in the final round of Li-Ning Romanian International and claimed the crown on Sunday, March 17, 2013.
She was up against another talented shuttler Kim Na Young and their meeting lasted for 55 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 15-21, 21-6 and 21-15.
Though, the victorious shuttler lost first set of the match but then she stormed back with a strong reply and locked the honour with a splendid win.
On the other hand, Kim could not capitalise her first set win and crashed out of the event in a woeful manner.
In the opening game of match, she launched a brisk attack and pushed the opposing shuttler on the back foot. She relished full benefits of this early advantage and doubled her total in no time.
This flow helped her to pile up a respectable total before the announcement of the break. After the one-minute interval, she played impeccable badminton and strengthened her grip.
Meanwhile, Beatriz bagged some consecutive points and narrowed the gap on the points table but she failed to come out of the deficit. She surrendered after reading 15-21 score on the board.
However, story was entirely different in very next game as Beatriz revived her lost form and brought the contest to the right balance.
She laid the foundation of her dominance in the establishing rallies and piled up a mountainous figure by clinching some valuable points without any interruption.
She finished the first half of the set with a decent figure of 11 and then widened the gap on the points table in the third quarter of the set.
She maintained a significant difference of 15 points and wrapped this segment of the showdown with an overwhelming total of 21-6.
The decider became crucial for both contenders as they were just one step away from the top spot of the victory stand.
Initially, both female shuttlers remained close but then Beatriz tipped the scale in her favour. She mounted pressure by finishing the first half with a favourable margin and then served notice of her dominance by registering a winning score of 21-15.
With this win, she earned the right to lift Women’s Singles trophy in Romanian International.
