Beau Colonel to land the Bet On Irish Racing At Totepool.Com Handicap Chase at Plumpton on 8th April
Plumpton is to stage the Class 5 Bet On Irish Racing At Totepool.Com Handicap Chase over two miles and four furlongs on Sunday, 8th April. Taking up the challenge today are six five-year and older thoroughbreds who will invade the track in order
to get entitled to the £1, 949 purse of the race.
Not every entry on the lineup has raced at Plumpton and there is none who has won a race there ever. This adds to the surprise element of the race with all the candidates almost on the same page in regard to performance and successes.
However, Beau Colonel, Colonel Collins’ six-year-old grey gelding out of mare Brave Lola, has registered two starts of the season against his name but could win neither.
He broke into the season on 4th January in the Follow @EPDS_Racing On Twitter Handicap Chase at Huntingdon over two miles and four and a half furlong. The winner of the race was My Faithful Annie who had the runner up, Kinkeel, adrift by 3 ¼ lengths.
Concluding the race third was the 4/1 collective favourite of the race, Earl Of Thomond.
Beau Colonel who was also entered as the collective favourite settled the race fifth while the third collective favourite, Sablazo, had to be pulled up from the race.
The beginning of the season for Beau Colonel was not exactly encouraging and he stepped up for the second outing after nearly two months.
He was among the lineup of eight that was set for the @Plumptonraceday Twitter Handicap Chase at Plumpton over three miles and two furlongs on 12th March. His beginning of the race was pretty impressive as he kept steady in the rear but then fell
when was fourth behind the leading trio.
The race was won by Brunette ‘Sonly who was soon accompanied by Ballyvoneen on the other end of the wire. The 2/1 favourite of the race, Oscar Charlie, fell and had to discontinue the race.
Beau Colonel’s potential could not really get highlighted due to the unfortunate incident and today he has the opportunity to set right what went wrong during the last race at Plumpton.
There are only two more entries who have raced at Plumpton and do not seem to be threatening.
