Question:

Beautiful, historic Paris?

My parents have *insisted* we go to Paris this summer, and while I am keen to go, I'm not sure what to do there.

Seems silly, but we need something we can all enjoy, without traipsing round every museum/fashion designer's store there is.

I was considering going to: Avenue Montaigne, Galeries Lafayette, The Monet Gardens, Versailles and the Tuilleries Garden.

Can anyone suggest anything else really worth seeing/ provide alternatives to the list above?

Thanks && love :)

  1. I've been to Paris many times, and there is a lot to do. Museums, the fashion district, Versailles, and just kind of walk around you'll find a lot more that way instead of sicking to a map. O, and Gallerie Layfayette is fun. O, and Disneyland Paris is great!

  2. What you have itemised already should occupy you for 7 to 10 days you could add another 7days by visiting The Louvre, itself the most interesting thing in Paris.

  3. Take a boat ride down the Seine, for sure.  You can all enjoy that and see some of the most popular sights along the way.

I strongly suggest going to Notre Dame and explore both the Ile de City on which it sits and the Ile St. Louis directly behind.  Ile St. Louis is a throw back in time and is well worth the short walk down the main street.  Some of the best ice cream is at Berthillon there, too.

You should also go to the Museé D'Orsay, and old converted train station that many say is the better museum in Paris between it and the Louvre, which is very large and always crowded.

I also recommend just walking along the Seine.  You will enjoy just seeing Paris and its people along the area between Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower.  Along the way (on the right bank) you will go past the Jardin Tuileries and Place de la Concorde as well as the other sites pointed out on the river cruise.

Enjoy Paris!!  It has a ton to offer and you should do your best to soak it all in.  There is magic there so let it work and have a great time.

  4. i lived in paris for four years, dont settle on the well know spots but travel around the city,

but beware not to stand out to much as a tourist though mugging on the increase

  5. ehh..eifell tower?

    paris is reli nice

    go to disney land paris

    have fun!!

    xxxx

  6. SHOPPING!!

  7. BUY a GUIDE BOOK.. that is much better than asking here on Answers where most AmeriKans have never been out of their country, let alone to Paris.

You can BUY the FODORS PARIS or FODORS FRANCE guide books in any mall bookstore and the best part is, you can carry them with you when you go to Paris.

Your question reminds me of when I lived in Paris and had company from the U.S.  The all wanted to "see" Paris... but they didn't have a CLUE what "see Paris" meant because they hadn't done their homework before coming to Paris.

A guide book is really necessary if you want to  find the great places to visit.
