Because now he voted to break the ban on offshore drilling. Did the country have to fall and people lose their homes, retirements and lives, to get to this point to show that we need to drill off of our coasts because President Bush is an oil man?

  1. Many democrats in congress also have oil companies in their portfolios.  As do many average Americans that are invested in mutual funds etc.  The oil problems facing this country have been a long time coming.  They did not just materialize with the election of President Bush.  You can blame him for alot, but when it really comes down to it, Congress has more power and influence than the President does on our day to day lives!  Point in case is that Congress will have to act on President Bush's call to lift the ban on offshore drilling.  He cannot force them to drill!  So if you want to blame somebody, blame your Senators and Representatives, they have the power to do something.  All the President really has is veto power!  Laws and Bills come up from the Congress, not down from the President!  This is where most Americans seem short sighted!  They blame the President for EVERYTHING and give Congress a free pass!

  2. The democrats are the ones who consistently block offshore drilling as well as drilling in Alaska.  I don't quite get the thrust of your question.  Are you saying that Bush arranged this economic slowdown and high gas prices in order to get the democrats on board for offshore drilling?

    Here's your answer

  4. The country has fallen? Where are you living? Consumer goods are still abundant, inflation is low, taxes are stable (unless we elect that socialist Obama), and the unemployment rate is manageable. Compare the US with other industrialized countries and we still have the best and most productive economy by far.

Gas is $9 in Paris.... 2 Euros a liter in Germany.... we are doing fine. It was a long needed adjustment, and a consequence of global supply and demand.

  5. LETS DRILL IN ALASKA TOO.

  6. Your question is confusing to me.  If Bush were really an "oil man" as you claim, why wouldn't he have lifted the ban that  his father enacted as an executive order, a long time ago?

Somehow people have gotten the mistaken idea that higher prices at the gas pump relates to higher profits for the oil companies.  This is not true.  The oil companies are like any other company.  They have to pay for the product they sell and in case you haven't noticed oil is up to $140.00 dollars a barrel.

Get with the modern trend.  Blaming the oil companies became passe a few weeks ago when the oil company executives spanked the know-nothing congressmen and women and gave them a lesson in economics.  Now we know that there are many causes for high oil prices, the main one being a huge increase in world-wide demand.

But, with the tendency for Americans to want to blame someone, they now blame the speculators.  But, when you think about it (please don't just take the word of the media), speculators are only gamblers.  They stand to lose as much as they gain if their guesses are wrong.

What can we do THIS MINUTE to reduce the gas pains we are experiencing at the pump?  It sure isn't "exploring" alternative fuels like Nancy Pelosi recommends.  That could take a couple of decades, if that soon.  Right now, we need to open new drilling fields and get the crude oil to the refineries and into our gas pumps.  This can be done within a year.  Don't listen to those who are doing everything they can to prevent gas prices from coming down.  They actually WANT more misery so they can say to the American people...vote for change.  How stupid are we as a society to believe that?

Use the brains that the creator gave you and look into the real reasons for gas prices being so high.  Use common sense and figure it out for yourselves.  The internet is so full of misinformation, it is amazing to me that more people aren't stark raving mad just reading this madcap stuff the left feeds the public.

  7. Are we not allowed to use our resources now?  You should be thankful President Bush is an "oil man" for he is trying to remedy the current rising price of oil, something the Senate wanted to do through dipping into our national reserve, "a big no-no".  Thus, instead of using our emergency reserve, he is wisely trying to take advantage of the millions of gallons that could be obtained from off-shore drilling.

  8. Every country in the world uses their resources. There is no reason why liberals should stop oil drilling from happening in the United States. It's simple economics by increasing supply prices drop.

  9. there are two bans on offshore drilling. One is from congress the other is from Bush SR. president bush was waiting to lift the executive ban until after congress lifted theirs to be a sort of cerimony, but since congress (democratic led I might add) will not lift theirs, Bush went against his plans and went ahead and lifted the executive ban. Congress is not following suit. Further more, even if congress did lift their ban, it would be up to the govenors of the states to allow it in state waters and most oppose that......this isn't bush's fault this time! Blame congress
