  1. No, it's because of the stupidity of the President of the USA who believes that the Russians should have no objection to having yankee missiles on their doorstep.

It's not a new Russian attitude it's called self preservation.

  2. No.

  3. you bet ye, very realistic.

  4. WW3 has been a realistic prospect ever since the USA decided to be the World's Police Force and dictate what every other nation could and could not do.

The Russians are only doing what the Americans are in Iraq, Afghanistan etc etc.

The probable outcome of Russia's resistance to further EU expansion is that, hopefully, no more East European nations will join the EU and there will be no more floods of East European migrants into the UK.

  5. No!!! Is the Usa that will start it....d**n them we will have this war only for their greedy oil's matter!

  6. You are implying that sole blames lies with Russia, that it is Russia that has perpetuated all this fuss. First thing to understand is, it was Georgia backed by US that attacked S.O., in return Russia retaliated.

When the skirmishes started between S.O. and Georgia, Russia in the security council called for an end to hostilities, and for a peaceful resolution. It was US and UK that refused. Russia has warned Georgia against any such moves, and were already prepared.

It is US that is trying to enclave and neutralize Russia. It is US that is trying to increase its sphere of influence even if it means running over Russia. It is US that is trying to control Eurasia. It is US that is signing a deal with Poland. It is US that is trying to control Caspian OIL. So it is US not Russia that is trying to provoke another cold war.

It is exactly if Russia was trying to move in Mexico or Cuba. So there is NO need to provoke another cold war for Imperial ambitions. The rule always has been contain Russia never provoke. So it is US attitude as much as Russia's as well. Russia continuously warned US against any such moves, and Russia has simply made it clear they will protect their interests any means necessary.

It is highly unlikely it will lead to another cold war, no one wants it, US or Russia. Europe has made it clear in a sense they have no intentions of doing America's bidding. They have no intentions to get embroiled in a war against Russia. US simply can not afford it. US is paying for Iraq war by borrowing money from China. Russia can not afford to alienate Europe. So it is highly unlikely. Cold war will be more disastrous for the West than for Russia . . . and no one has any naive notions about it. Bush can talk tough all he wants but even he is not devoid of reality!

"By declaring the Caucasus, a region that is thousands of miles from the American continent, a sphere of its 'national interest,' the United States made a serious blunder."

  7. Unfortunately The US government has become exceedingly efficient at controlling the mainstream media and this question is a clear example of it.

Fortunately most of the answerer's (herkk, Arthur B and others) can see that too.

I'm fully aware that people are entitled to their own opinions and I respect them even though I may sometimes not agree with them,

So I just have a question to "Foreign Minister":

What is your source, do you even have one?

  8. no..wouldn't go that far but the Russian's are not about to be bullied by the Western world...& i don't blame them!!

  9. Recently, the presidents or prime ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Poland all went to Georgia to show their support for the country, and to call for Russia to withdraw. I think Russia took a risk by invading Georgia, and they badly miscalculated the world's response.

I doubt that WW3 is coming. Recently, the Shanghai Co-operation Organization, which includes Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, refused to issue a declaration of support for Russia when asked by Russia to do so. Instead, they called on Russia to show restraint. This is a really big deal, and shows that if Russia were to continue with this aggression, China is very unlikely to align with them.

Also, Russia doesn't have the force projection capabilities that it used to back in the Cold War. One of their main foreign policy priorities over the past 10 years (other than crushing the Chechans) is economic integration with Western Europe. Russia has been trying to get into the World Trade Organization for a long time. Now that this is unlikely to happen anytime soon, Medvedev is suddenly pretending like this is not important, but it really is vital for Russia.

  10. oh who really cares????
