Becca Mann grabs Women’s 400m IM title – Junior Pan Pacific Championships
Becca Mann of USA grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii on Friday, August 24.
The American swimmer stunned the crowd with her impressive form in the eight-lap IM discipline. Mann, who qualified into the playoff as second best swimmer, spoiled the party of her strongest opponent and her teammate, Celina Li, by occupying gold medal.
With her persistent efforts, Mann faced no trouble from her challengers and secured the crown of the discipline with a timing of 4 minutes and 39.76 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Keryn McMaster of Australia, who stayed nearly two seconds slower and secured silver medal of the race by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 41.63 seconds.
Third position of the race was secured by Li, who remained nearly half body length behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 42.17 seconds.
The bronze medallist was traced by Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson of Canada, who stayed 1.80 seconds slower and secured fourth position of the discipline by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 43.97 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was secured by Yui Ohashi of Japan, who stayed 2.30 seconds slower and touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 46.27 seconds.
Subsequently, Ohashi was followed by Breanne Siwicki of Canada, who stayed 0.25 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and secured sixth best spot of the event by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 46.52 seconds.
Siwicki was chased by Rika Omoto of Japan, who suffered a loss of 1.80 seconds from her and submitted an effort of 4 minutes and 48.32 seconds.
Omoto was trailed by Samantha Wilkins of Australia, who stayed nearly eight seconds apart and hit the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 56.25 seconds.
Mann won the hearts of crowd with her alluring efforts in the 400m discipline and aroused hopes of her followers by expressing that she would work hard to achieve the same at superior levels of swimming.
