Becca Mann occupies Women’s 400m IM gold – 2013 Arena Grand Prix
Becca Mann of Clearwater Aquatics occupied gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on opening day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix in Colorado, USA, on Thursday, February 14.
The 15-year-old Mann devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant IM discipline and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal. She stayed in a comfortable lead over her opponents and tapped the wall for the title.
Mann enjoyed a lead of almost half pool length over her closest competitor and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 41.24 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Sam Arevallo Salinas of Una Dana-FG, who stayed 8.99 seconds slower and clocked an effort of4 minutes and 50.23 seconds for silver medal.
Arevallo was followed by Kylie Stewart of Dynamo Swim Club, who stayed almost two seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 52.08 seconds.
Stewart was traced by Carolyn McCann of King Aquatic Club, who was 6.09 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 58.17 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Casey Francis of Pine Crest Swimming, who was 1.13 seconds slower and hit the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 59.30 seconds.
Francis was followed by Alena Kluge of Unattached-MR, who was one and a half body length behind and stepped on the finishing wall for sixth position by posting an effort of 5 minutes and 00.68 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Tasija Karosas of Saint Andrew’s Swim Club, who was almost five second slower and clocked an effort of 5 minutes and 05.60 seconds.
Karosas’ teammate, Rac Bradford-Feldman failed to secure any position in the race as she was disqualified from the final due to an improper start.
In addition, the crowd appreciated notable efforts of all contestants in their respective events while Mann received a huge round of applause from the audience at the prize ceremony of the event.
