Question:

Beckham at the Beijing Closing Ceremony?

Am I the only one un-impressed with Beckham kicking one (1) Ball at the Closing Ceremony? What, does he charge by the kick?

It was a real anti-climax, I expected him to kick quite a few to the loyal volunteers (who didn't get paid to be there)

  1. I didn't expect him to do more than what he did.  As for kicking only one ball, how many did you expect him to throw? do you know how many volunteers there were? (they were there because they wanted to be there, so why would anyone feel sorry for them?) I actually didn't expect the guy to run after it.  I thought they would let it go.  I bet he had to hand it over at the end of the night lol

Anyhow, I thought one ball was fine. I wasn't impressed at all with the British performance, I was actually cringing but I'm sure they will do great with their olympics too.

Bob...who cares if he was Chinese, Japanese, Italian or Greek?!!! Personally I can't tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese...heck, I can't tell the difference between a Greek and an Italian either (and I'm Italian)

  2. Sure, it was a Japanese that picked Beckham loose ball. It doesn't matter. At least, he should autographed it and also shown the 2012 Olympicsin London  markings, which could be more significant.

London is not well organised yet to take the Games and so Beckham just kick off loosely. Perhaps, the sucess at China have just eclipses the Westerners momentarily.

  3. Tell the difference between Japanese and Chinese. The person who picked up the ball was Japanese.

  4. I know, did you see that Worker rush to pick it up off the floor? He looked very happy!

I feel sorry for the Volunteers! and I bet Beckham got paid a few £££££ to be there!

  5. Yah, I expected him to do something more... ok, maybe he doesn't have the time to rehearse... but at least kick a few more balls to the crowd... just one? What an anti climax. Or at least tell the crowd something like "See you at London 2012!" to hype up the handover.

  6. yes--how minimal was that!? i thought there would be more of a spectacular moment as he is so famous now across the globe--was a bit like someone had to come up with an idea and it took all of 20 seconds!, least he smiles and looks genuinely happy to be there i suppose and yes! all those helpers for free deserved much more for their efforts
