Become a better runner?

I am going into 8th grade and the past 2 years I have just barely passed our bi-monthly running test. it involves a minimum of 18 laps around the gym in 8 minutes. I am not a good runner at all and want to get myself better at it. it is humiliating for me to do so much worse than the other kids. How can I become a stronger runner?

  1. its all mental...just ignore the pain, ignore the fatigue. you and only oyu can make you better. good luck.


  2. Just keep practicing. You should start by running 10 to 15 minutes a day, and as you get stronger you can run faster and longer. So then when you are running up to 45 minutes 8 minutes will feel like nothing. I started this routine this summer and i have lost weight, built muscle, and become a great runner. IT also helps to run wiht a friend.

  3. Even beginners can begin to get faster.  Run an easy pace and then for just ten seconds speed up.  Do that several times during your jog.  When ten seems easier, up it to fifteen seconds.

    The technical term is specificity of training but really it just means to run fast you must train fast.
