  1. Wow. Good luck!

First you should consider the competition in Las Vegas will be vastly different from your local Ohio Casino. It will be a lot tougher to win, and in some casinos, you will find that there are players who are teams, just waiting for the Midwestern Fish to swim into their game.

That being said you say you need to win around $2,000 a month. Assume you play 20 days  month. That means you need to win $100 every time you play, or to at least average that. Playing for 7-8 hours a day in a $5-10 NL game, you would need a bankroll of 300 times the bb, or around $30,000.

That is my best estimate, based on what you have asked.

Good luck at the tables, and consider looking for a steady job when you get to Vegas, then play poker part time for a while.

  2. How much money you need is a matter of how sure you want to be that you can survive this.  I wouldn't worry about the 6 months' expenses that much since if things don't go well you won't be there anywhere near that long.  Your roll needs to be pretty decent though.  You could take a shot at this with as little as 10K although that's just a shot and you're going to have to get lucky to stick around.  20 gives you a better shot and 30 is starting to get more comfortable if you are a good player.  Obviously the more the better :)  I will tell you that playing for your rent money is a whole lot different experience especially when the cards get cold.  It's too d**n hot in Vegas to spend too much time outside anyway and I'd just give it a go from home for now unless you're very confident and have a lot of money to throw at this project.

  3. ok its tough man but heres what youll need.

u want 6 months paid rent in advance i know i did this. I live in las palmas apartments  just 2 blocks away from the strip. Rent here is 800 for 2 bedroom not too bad really. Then you are gonna want to have at least and i mean at least 10 grand. If u think u can come ot here with just a couple grand u are sorely mistaken. This is a great place to play poker but u have to remember LV is an expensive city.

You are also gonna want a saftey deposit box, I know first time i came ot i have over 15 grand stolen and all my luggage too so be carefull.   People out here will rob your uhall when you go to pay for yor gas. lol no joke.

  4. twenty-five thousand dollars....play online and start at 1/2...start winning and move up gradually to 10/20. as the stakes go up so does the competition!    if you are any good you should have your bankroll in 3 or 4 weeks...just hop[ a plane ...minnesota, nevada mississippi california, new york , new jersey.   most states have poker rooms...keep dreaming...when you wake up at 2 am turn on nbc  ''poker after dark''

  5. From what I've read, they say you should have enough savings to pay your living expenses for six months.  So that would be in your case $1,500x6=$9,000.

Then you need a bank roll for playing.  It has to be big enough to withstand some big swings, but the actual amount is going to depend on what stakes you are intending to play.

Just remember that thousands of people have tried and failed at what you are going to attempt.  Even Daniel Negreanu went bust when he moved to Vegas for the first time.

It is a very tough way to make a living.  But good luck.
