  1. Sounds fine to me.  I would go to a CC first then get a job.  Once you do that your employer will probably pay for your bachelors - or even a Masters.

    Thanks

  2. I have been both an EMT and a nurse (among many other things).  Understand that the work of an EMT is nothing like that of a nurse - they are two very different worlds.

It'd be like saying "I'm going to learn to make cabinets to see if I want to become a house builder"  They're a little related, in that they both work with wood, but not all that close.

If you want to see if you'd like to be a paramedic then become an EMT first.  If you want to see if you'd like to become a nurse then become a nursing assistant first.  Also check your local vocational schools - some LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) programs will allow HS students to register.  Becoming an LPN is directly related to nursing and LPN training is generally under 1 year.

You get EMT training from the local community college or, in some places, through the local fire department/EMS.  Look in your phone book for the Office of Emergency Medical Services and call them.  They know where EMTs are trained in your area.
