I think it depends on how motivated you are - when you work for yourself, there is simply TOO MUCH WORK - I would never do it - I am WAY 2 LAZY!  Good luck with your endeavor, though!! I have 2 admire your tenacity, 4 sure.....

self employed is like being drunk on a roller coaster . great highs terrible lows. lots of unexpected curves and speed.

never ever become SE unless u start PART time.

work SE pt/tm to learn and earn.

use half of your Profits to clean up ur debts.

use other half to roll into SE after paying taxes.

continue this approach until your monthly SE net profits equal ur take home pay check . repeat six - nine months.

at this point u are earning an income that is stable, u have reduced or eliminated ur home debt, ur SE business is going forward on cash/carry only.

u have 3-6months operating expenses reserved in cash.

NOW u can fire ur boss.

There are pros and cons to both. Being self-employed means freedom from routine, an unlimited possibility of income and never having to answer to anyone but yourself.

Being employed for salary means a steady, guaranteed income, benefits, and steady consistent hours.

self-employment means not knowing for sure when the next paycheque is coming, lack of resources from peers, and having dozens of things to think about, ie. taxes, healthcare,raw materials etc.

salaried means minimal increases in pay, set time off for vacations, horrible peers and boss's.

I am self-employed, and I would never even entertain the thought of going back to a 9-5 job.

Self-employed sounds great if you can leave everything you make in the first year in the business.

Then its going to work and make you worth at least that.
