I'm aware that you need to know spanish in order to qualify for this job, my question is if you don't know how to speak it, do they teach you or do you have to already know it when you apply. right now I'm just a recent high school graduate so I'm just planning ahead.

  1. The Border Patrol is a respectable line of law enforcement and I would recommend giving it a try. You will have to learn Spanish. If you don't already speak Spanish you will take an artificial language test when you do the Border Patrol Exam. I have been told the artificial test is hard and makes no sense. Taking a few semesters of Spanish wouldn't hurt since they want either military / law enforcement experience, or college credits to apply.

  2. they probably expect you to already know it and congratz for wanting to protect our country :)

  3. you dont have to know it to be hired!. If you dont know spanish they will add on 2 more months to your time in the academy.

  4. In the real world people want usefull empoloyees asap. Anyone who speaks spanish is gunna be put as much higher priority to hire than you are. But Im guessing they expect you to learn spanish anyway.
