Becoming a Doctor/Medical student?

Question

Ok, so i want to become a doctor eventually. So im guessing i have to study medicine fist, is that correct?

So how do i go about it because i dont have any other qualifications really, apart from standard grades and higher health promotion and psychology for care.

I know i have to start at the bottom, but where exactly is the bottom if u know what i mean lol?

Starting off in high school, you will obviously need a strong base in science/math courses.  But don't forget about english/writing courses.  Once you get to college/med school, those writing type courses can get lost in the push to start to specialize in science.

In college, you'll likely want to pick a major that is science related, although this is certainly not required if you have another major and just simply excel in science/math electives (i knew a guy who got into med school and did well as a spanish major).  Most importantly, you'll want to do the following things:

1. volunteer at a hospital or some community benefiting program

2. shadow a doctor extensively (this is sometimes hard and requires specific connections, but looks very, very good on apps)

Everyone (or many people) applying to med school have a 4.0 and excellent MCAT scores, so that doesn't really set anyone apart.  It comes down to your experiences and connections if you have them.

Finally, in med school, you'll simply need to withstand the pressure and competition from many other med students.  Simply being the smartest or most knowledgeable isn't going to get you through med school, you need time management skills, know/use the political system that is in place, the ungodly drive/determination it is going to take to do all the work, and do it well.

you should first get a liscense for nursing assistant first,then a nurse technition,finally a registered nurse after you can work your way up to doctor.i want to be come a doctor as well so my mother said she will put me in a medical school for nurses first.hope this helps!!!!

if you want to become a medical doctor, then you have a lot of work ahead of you. I think it is amazing that you want to become a doctor, regardless of what others say. we need more general practicioners in this country.... and maybe you could care about your patients. haha. if you are an undergrad you should volunteer and do research to build your resume for med school. med school's also prefer it when prospective candidates work or volunteer for a hospital or clinic. the MCAT contains four or so topics: physics, bio, organic chem, and verbal reasoning( because some students that are good in the sciences dont quite have the literay abililties they need to possess).

go to a student counselor!!! to help you direct you better!
