Becoming a Speech Therapist?

I am a Sophomore in high skool and I definitely want 2 work with children after college. Is it going 2 help if i take child development and physics 4 my jr yr and AP physics my senior yr?

Yes, any science will help!  I'm a speech therapist in the public school setting and when I was in high school, I contacted the colleges that I was interested in and asked them what pre-requisite classes I should be taking.  It was extremely helpful because I had some core classes out of the way.  

    So, my advice is to call your college of interest and ask them where your high school concentration should be.  Best wishes!  This is the best field ever!


  2. Child development, psychology and Spanish would probably help you the most.   I would suggest biology over physics.  Physics is great, but you will need to take several biology and biology/anatomy related courses in school.

    Edit- I agree taking advanced science is important and you don't need to call each university.  Look up the degree requirements is available online.  I still say taking biology instead of physics makes a lot more sense.  I can not imagine that physics would be explicitly needed in college in comparison to biology.
