Becoming a famous actress...?

my dream. Thats the simplest way of putting it. And i know what some of you are going to say..."that chance is slim to none" right? well...i just need help. I want to know; the skills i need to have; where should i audition (my dream is a disney star :) ) uhmmm and how do you "devote" your life to acting? I couldnt take an acting class as my elective; becauseeeee my parents made me take band. (gagg) I'm going to audition for both school plays though, so im trying my hardest i think... :]. So; share away!!

5 Simple Steps to Becoming an Actress/Actor:

-Make a resume full of training, experience, awards, and skills that you have.

-Take acting classes, and audition for anything: plays at theatre or church, casting calls, etc.

-Get a good headshot either from a photographer or have someone take a nice pic of your face with no background clutter.

-Join/Read websites like Explore Talent, Star Search Casting, Actors Access, Now Casting, and New Faces. (You can find auditions on these sites, and don't neccessarily have to pay)

-Submit to agents/agencies and casting directors - don't forget to read books like Act Now and remember to research!

(Find a list of agents in your area by typing in "talent agents in (closest big city, state) on google maps.  A list of agents will come up and you can check SAG/AFTRA to make sure they're legit.  Never pay upfront fees to an agent, though!  Good luck, hope I helped!

Join the drama club at your school, join the Community Theatre in your city.  

Do not try to become a "famous actress," as you will be disappointed when it does NOT happen.  Strive to become the best actress you can be.  Fame is fleeting and it will disappoint everytime.

I'll start you off with the first thing you need to know. You can't learn to be famous. You can learn to act. If you are good enough, and lucky, and take advantage of opportunities that come your way to advance in your profession, you may some day become famous. However, you should also know from the outset that if and when you become a successful actor, you may not want or need the fame you're looking for now.

Now- to devote your life your life to acting, you need to get some solid ideas on what a career and life in acting will demand of you in time, energy, study, practice and dedication--and it's a lot. Read about the lives and careers of other stage and movie actors, look for books about acting itself and the techniques and disciplines it involves.

If you can't take acting classes right away, look around for school theater groups, youth theater groups or workshops in your community--or start one of your own with friends.. See as much live theater as you can in your area. If you know anyone who's an actor, or works in and around theater, talk to them about your ambitions and see what they tell you, or advise.

When you can, begin taking acting classes, as well as classes in voice and movement, or dance, or singing--audition for school plays, or if there are parts for someone your age, for community theater productions, if and when you feel confident in your abilities (and if your parents permit). All this will take more than a few years. Very few actors are "discovered"overnight, and most of those who are have been in training and have been performing for many years before their discovery.

By the time you get to this stage of the game, and have actually been in a production or two or three, you'll probably have a much better idea of whether you want to continue working toward your goals. Also, you will be in contact with other actors and theater folks who can give you more information on how to proceed with your career, if that's what you decide.

I will not wish you luck (since it's a theater tradition not to say that), but I do hope your dreams may begin to come true.
