I want to go to farrier school, I'm not looking for a full time job, I just want to be able to shoe my horse (all the time) and my friends horses in an emergency. I would like to know if there are schools in Pennsylvania, United States that anyone knows about or if you guys could just point me in the right direction with some advice.

I've been trying to look it up but to no avail.

  1. Every horse shoer I have used would let ya ride along for the day and help and also eventually do the actual shoeing.  I would not pay for school just for my own horses.  If I had a problem or correction needed I would just have the farrier out then if I didn't know.

  2. The Pennsylvania Institute for Horseshoeing:

But don't overlook smaller farrier tech schools such as the first person here pointed to. If I had to hire a farrier fresh out of school I would want one who came from a school with the best instructor/student ratio possible and the best student ratio to horses available needing work to assure the most hands-on experience possible. That is usually found at smaller tech schools.

Edit: Here is a list of farrier schools since you have now said that it can be anywhere in the United States:

thats the only place in pennsylvania. Sorry!
