Question:

Becoming a pianist as my career?

I really love the piano, and I would give anything to be a great pianist and perform for the rest of my life. The thing is, I'm no prodigy, no world class performer, I'm just a teenager trying to learn as much as I can before auditions for college. Do I have a chance to make it in the world as a pianist? Is it a believable dream???

  1. Yes. You are going to play the piano no matter what because you love it.  To achieve the recognition and monetary success your best bet is a well known teacher and you will find one if you are going to a college with a music department or studying in a metropolitan area.  The pianist is the performer sought after as an accompanist by other musicians (see violinists) and after training and experience, as a soloist  (see your orchestra conductor).

  2. it is sooo believable. i'm in the same exact situation as you but not going to college just yet. if you want to make it more sure, then you should get involved in local orchestras and stuff or get a well-known piano teacher who you can refer to when asked. that way you'll be more prepared and to the college you'll seem more ready. i think you'll do great!

  3. Hi Piano...

You are trying to convince me that all these good piano players learnt the piano in 1 month.

If you love the instrument with passion, sit down and start learning. Simple. The more hours you practice, the less you will have to in the future and the faster you will learn toplay proficiently.

Reality is made from Dreams. Hold on to that dream and send me an autographed CD one day.
