Does it take 6 months to get your flying license or 17 months??

I've taught people to fly (private pilot license)  in as little as 21 days, start to finish, but it depends on the student's ability and how often you can fly. Typically a private pilot license takes 6 months if you fly only twice per week. To get all your ratings so you can work as a pilot - commercial, instrument, and possibly multiengine and flight instructor - it can take as little as 6 months to 12 months in an accelerated course, but if you go to a school that offers an Associate of Science degree with the flight training, it takes about 18 months to two years to complete.

It can be done in a matter of days, or it can take several years.  The best way is to find a local flight school and discuss your specific case with the flight instructors.
