  1. Also known as an Astronomer, although I suppose you could study the planets themselves as a geologist or evolutionary biologist.

  2. I tried to enter that scheme as well not funding from my parents wasnt available to achieve this :(.

you will need a good score in school regarding physics and maths.

Since that is finished you can enroll in many things first like geologists, or biology cos these are the primary steps taken, it depends what you wanna make out your profession, you wanna study land formation you wanna study magnetic fields and how it affects planets, gravity and influence or atmospheric measurements, all these start of from fundamental courses in college, example if you wanna be a Extraterrestrail finder, you will need to know geography very very well to study the composition of the planets and biology to be able to read measures of oxygen or whatever you are looking for,  So its a big project to embark but i hope you achieve this and better and hopefully one day ill read your name in the articles and journals about space

    Good luck.

  3. There is  couple of ways of approaching this. You could get a degree in a physical science and then a PhD in astrophysics or you got get a degree in Earth Science and then a PhD in Planetary Science.

I think if you are just interested in the solar system then  Planetary Science is the way to go....

Your still going to need A level Maths and Physics.

  4. You will need at least a college degree in astronomy or physics.  A masters will get you further.  In order then to find a position,  professional journals offer the best chance.  You could try Nature Magazine in the USA or New Scientist in the UK.  Be prepared for a great deal of hard work, and good luck!

  5. You might want to take up Physics with a specialization in astrophysics in college. This course would require you to be *very* good at math and logic among other things. A creative, non-conventional way of thinking also helps since this will help you think of ways around logical barriers in some of the more advanced fields of study

  6. i'm sorry to say, you can't make a living on just the solar system. if you want to study astronomy, you have to do it all. you aren't going to make much money if you only study our solar system. there actually isn't a degree for just our solar system. if you are interested in astronomy and cosmology, then i sugest you do the following:

if you want to teach and get a good paycheck, then you would need to be a professor. you have to have a PhD in-

    1. astronomy

    2. physics, and then astrophysics

i have a PhD in both, and got pretty lucky when it came to getting a job. i teach some night courses on the side, write some articles here and there, but my primary income comes from my teaching position at my local university.

you could choose to study the solar system in depth, but if you want to use astronomy as a job and not a hobby, you have to study all of astronomy, and just study the solar system on your own time. and after a while, you can become a leading authority on the matter, but that is very hard, and takes a long time.
