  1. Lots of iron in spinich and rasins.  Good choice.  You'll love the variety of foods you can think up.  Eat lots of raw stuff.  Your body will love you.  Hair and skin will look and be healthier.  Vegetarians are stronger, more flexible too, did you know?  And your body will smell better.  Garry Null is a great source of information.

Were we designed to eat meat?  Uh no!  A tiger has an intestinal tract 3 feet long, compared to ours SHORT.  For those who think we are carnivores, I'd like to see them sit down to a big steaming steak on the cow.  I don't see it happening.

Hope you'll venture into it.  You do need lots of vegetables, and a good variety.  Fruits are always best eaten raw and alone.  Nuts and grains?  Choose whole ones and raw when you can.

Enjoy!  I have that film but haven't read it yet.  I was reading the 70s book The Diet for a New America.  Animal cruelty is just a horror.

Wishing you the best with your endeavor.  You won't regret it.

  2. You can get iron from other things like oranges etc, and u can still get protein from cheese...im not sure i would do it personally, why dont u just look into better meats, like organic, or free range, hey, u know that when ur friends or parents are cooking up that bacon sandwich you not going to be able to resist it!

  3. don't do it. respect your position on the food chain. I like veggies, but a whole vegetable platter cannot replace the satisfaction you get from a single bite of a perfect steak. do the right thing, eat meat.

  4. Being a vegetarian is the best decision you will ever make. I'm a teenage vegetarian, and i'm perfectly healthy!

  5. yeah. i'm 16 and i just recently went veggie... like a few months ago, and i'm already vegan.  it's not as complicated as you might think. we aren't physically designed for meat consumption, and most of the supplements/vitamins you need are found in fruits/veggies/nuts/legumes/etc.   I think you should read the book Skinny *****. it will tell you everything. really.

  6. Hey! I'm 13 and on thee 4th of July I stopped eating meat. I did days of research before I made the choice. Although there are risks of me not getting enough protein or iron I think what they are doing to those poor animals is NOT OK! If you haven't gone to go veg.com I would suggest checking it out. The meet your meat video is responsible for making lots of people vegetarians. Talk to your doctor and you can learn all about the iron and stuff. S/he may also suggest a vitamin. Good luck! Go veg!

  7. Eat plenty of spinach, beans, etc., and you should be fine on iron.  However, if you're still worried about it, take a multi-vitamin with iron.  Don't worry, you'll be fine.  Many people spend their entire lives vegetarian or vegan, and are perfectly healthy.

The meat industry is clearly awful, as your research has indicated.  It seems obvious to me that humans evolved eating a varied diet, including small amounts of meat (probably much smaller than what people currently eat), but I don't really think that's relevant.  We also evolved brains with which we can make our own decisions about what we want to eat, and developed societies and tools which can easily support all kinds of diets, including unhealthy meat-based diets or completely vegan diets.
