I want to become a vegitarian. I know it is hard to get enough protien, but what are some ways i can help that? Is it a hard transition? I want to become a vegetarian because of what people do to animals, not because i'm one of those crazy diet freaks.

  1. The fact is, it's not hard to get enough protien, you can get lots of it from beans, nuts and pulses ect; and if you're still planning to eat other animal bi-products like eggs and cheese then they are good sources also. I became a vegetarian when i was ten and i thought it would be a lot harder than it actually was, once i got over the first week i was fine and i haven't eaten a single piece of meat in 5 years now. I suppose the ease of the transition also depends on whether you live with you're parents or not, and whether they are willing to be supportive, and still cook your meals ect. My mum was great with me; im sure if you just have a word with your family, explain why you are making the decision and that you will need their support then you'll be fine. You never know, they might end up converting too. Good luck.

  2. It's not difficult at all.  Just stop eating meat.  Don't make it more complicated than necessary.

I wouldn't worry too much about protein.  As long as you eat beans, nuts, etc., you should be fine with protein.

  3. The whole "protein" thing is fast becoming an urban myth. Modern science shows that as long as you eat a good variety of foods on a veggie diet, it's actually a struggle NOT to get enough protein. It's when people overdose on protein actually that the problems usually start.

No, it's not a hard transition, but becoming informed about diet is a good idea. Try the website of the Vegetarian Society, or veganhealth.org for infomation.

    Good luck.

  4. i understand how u feel

but animals r meant to be eaten

when noah got off the ark God said that animals would fear humans

they are still gonna make meat products

(even though i will admit some of the places r evil)

but if u really want to become a vegetarian just eat a lot of variety

and a lot of fruits and vegies

  5. If you are young and growing, talk to a nutritionist -- they'll tell you how you can ensure you are getting all your nutrients.

  6. For me it wasnt a hard transition......

But it is hard to stay vegetarian....

my family eats meat and its hard to eat dinner when all they cooked is meat.....

I loved meat but I became vegetarian because of the same reason you are......

Subistitute things and dont let people tell you its pointless what you are doing because it isnt....
