Question:

Becoming an MMA fighter?

I'm wanting to know how to become an MMA fighter. I have completed a few martial arts and thought I would take it farther. I live in Arkansas and it's kind of hard to find a place close to me, to my knowledge there aren't any really close to where I live. Is there a website where I could get on and look at the stuff and maybe talk to a manager or something or what could I do?

-Thanks,

  1. It's actually really hard from what I know.  You have to really know at least 2 forms of fighting, 1 stand up one ground, not sort of went to a gym once.  You have to have at least decent cardio.  Remember when you get a shot if you blow it's really hard to get another.  Then you may have to travel to where a promotion is based.  Once there you can arrange a meeting with one of their heads.  They probably will give you a private shot, but the smaller the promotion the easier it will be to get your meeting.  Don't blow it.  Good luck.  P.S. I'd look into the AFL, IFL, or Elite XC if you are starting out.

  2. Your best bet would be to find a plce that is close to you, but if there isn't one, then there isn't much you can do.

BTW: you can't really COMPLETE a martial art, even if you are a black belt to what ever degree, you can still learn and get better.

  3. i'd probably find a mma place and say how do i join

  4. its not that easy, you cant just call manager and get a contract. to the dope that said because you are staring out you shoul contact the IFL, if it were only that easy. those guys have also had years of training. I know plenty of the guys from the IFL and alot of them actually make more than UFC fighters. Unless you are huge in the UFC you dont make c**p. you need to go to a gym an train for a year and get some Ametuer fights. A manager will contact you. There are thousands of people wanting to become pro-mma fighters. Its like becoming a rockstar. you dont just call the record label and then get a deal. it takes some work

  5. the IFL are always looking for good fighters for events. if you have good stand up skills they will train you for the ground part of fighting.

But you must be serious and really want to fight in MMA Before an IFL Coach will Even consider training you for a fight.

I have been informed that the IFL holds events at : All Star Sports Arena, 1906 Cambridge St., Springdale, Arkansas.
