Becoming an actor, for Dummies.?

Question

Just curious, how do people 'get discovered'? That is... if i wanted to become an actor in movies. I'm not going to do plays, or local stuff, those feel like dead end jobs.

I know that if i had a massive pile of money I could buy my way in, by getting a hold of a script or buying into an agency or something. But thats not in the cards for me. :)

well yeah, its about knowing people, and you won't get anywhere if you don't start somewhere. TRY LOCAL THEATER CLASSES! Until you really get into it, it all will feel like dead end jobs. I know, I am 15 and working very hard to become an actress. If you're out of college, its too late for you most likely.

thats not true, u can always major in drama, taking acting lessons, join the plays in COLLEGE. its NOT too late.
