  1. I find that I become more impatient and cynical, yes. More intolerant of intolerance and idiocy. But if someone is genuinely suffering I can usually find some compassion rattling around somewhere :-)

  2. a hard life will do this to you. also, customer service.

i was working at mcdonalds for two years before joining the military. i am now utterly incapible of really giving a c**p about what a customer thinks.

    *shrug*

  3. Me too!  I'm no racist, I hate everybody equally! I read this question just as I was thinking of posting the question "Why don't I care?"

  4. I get more sympathetic as I get older, and realise it isn't so easy as I thought it was when I was younger :-)

  5. I'm probably about the same as I've always been.

  6. Sometimes yeah, as I get older. But I still get waves of empathy, and have often felt the need to be compassionate, so not all the time.

Maybe the world just bashes us all to sh*t. Perhaps that is a good reason we oughtta be more compassionate.

  7. It depends on the situation whether or not I feel sympathy. I've gotten less cold hearted.

  8. In fact, Gaz, I've found it to be just the opposite.  As I've gotten older, I've mellowed.  The things that used to bother me no longer do...and those things that do bother me are faced head on and resolved to the best of my abilities.

My heart seems to get warmer and bigger with each passing year...probably out of appreciation for a good life.

  9. world would be a very sad place if no one had compassion and empathy.  It's sad enough as it is.

Suggest you travel overseas if possible, great way to open your eyes.  Americans are often to far removed from the rest of the world...in the end we are all human despite beliefs, skin color, and country.  Why should you have rights to clean food and water...and many people dont?  what makes you better then them?  nothing but birth rights.

  10. I found that the older i've gotten the wiser, smarter, reliable, i have become, i give all that credit to god!, so what you need to do is take life a lil more serious, get more involve with something, start reading the bible it can answer all of your questions. you first  have to love yourself as well as others, try thinking positive about others and there feelings, belive me it feels so much better knowing that life just don't stop anywhere. you have to take it day by day, get rid of all that angry that you are harboring inside, get up in the morning with an new attitude as if today was  going to be a good day for you. you can do it. all you have to do is try. god bless and good luck.

  11. I don't know about cold hearted so much as the stuff that used to bother us tends not to bother us anymore.

  12. Actually, I was 12 when I stopped caring about people... and everything else.

  13. i am completely opposite. i mean i am not that old or anything, but i find as i get older and find out that there is more and more hate in this world i feel sorry for everyone that i hear about and wish i could do something. a couple of years ago i couldnt care less.
