Becoming volunteer EMT..?

I have a desk job and am looking for a way to feel like I'm helping people, experience a little adrenaline and have "something else" in my life.. A friend of my family's is a vounteer EMT and I have decided to take the course.. I'm also interested in testing my enjoyment of the medical field, with the possibility of becoming a parametic (EMT full time job) or going into nursing... anyway.. Unfortunately, I am also a member of a small college choir, which means my life will be CRAZY busy.. I'd like to drop the choir, but there's not enough women in it and the director has made it clear that she cannot "lose" another girl. She's willing to work with me, so I'm willing to work something out..

But as far as the Voulunteer EMT course, any suggestions

I'm female, 27, and have 3 years experience (while in high school) as a CNA (But it's been awhile..)

Any tips? Suggestions??

  1. I am a Fire Fighter, EMS, Head of Security i really like to help people out. There can never be enough EMS out there and if its what you wanna do go for it. Most colleges offer th course in a 3 month series after that all you need to do is make it to your clinicals and the BIG test to get certified. You should try it its very rewarding and i bet you will find more openings for EMS than in a chior. If you decide to do the EMS thing well sweetie god bless you your doing a good deed, and welcome to the team. WE ROCK!

TIP: join Volunteer Fire / EMS. This will give you the extra experience and it will help you decide if EMS is for you. If you like it the Dept. will pay for all of your college classes, books, uniforms, equipement. When you decide to leave and go at it full time you will be certified and have experience you can put down on your resume.
