  1. If you look on your local authority's website they will have a section for childcare. This will set out what they require of chilminders. You usually have to complete an introduction to childminding practice course and have paediatric first aid training.

Childminders are still very popular with anyone who wants childcare in a home environment. The nursery I own works with lots of chilminders and they are respected much more than they used to be when I was one, years ago.

It's not an easy job and can be very isolating, but if you join a network you can make lots of friends and help each other out.

The hourly rate in my area seems to be about £3.50 to £4.

    Good luck! :-)

  2. Look on the National Childminding associaition website NCMA. Lots of advice, training, help line etc.

  3. is you go to your local job centre they will give you all the advice you will need my daughter goes to someone who charges £4.50 per hour if that is any help

  4. well first thing to do is get first aid training/cpr from the Red cross. Then go visit Day care centers.Check out the American academy of pediatrics.
