Question:

Bed Bug Question - do I really have them?

I keep getting bites on my face that seem to be consistent with Bed Bug bites - really itchy and red. However I cannot find any sign of the bugs (I live in a small studio apartment that's easy to thoroughly search in all the cracks!), no blood spots on the sheets, no stains, and the bites only appear in the afternoon of the following day. The only thing I have found are quite a few Carpet Beetles (which aren't supposed to bite humans). If anyone has experienced bed bugs - does it sound like I have them?? Should i be able to find evidence and do the bite marks appear so much later?

  1. Did you look in the edge of your mattress? If that's what you mean by "cracks" and you didn't see anything then I do not believe that you have them.

Bed bugs are very visible to the eye. Even though they do hide in crack, they leave behind their waste which is visible even when they are hiding. That is what you would be seeing and should be looking for if you had them. Also the bits are small red itchy bumps.

Please read the folllowing site to help you decide for yourself, because it's really difficult to know if you have just a few right now. Which may be why you're not seeing any evidence....yet. Here's the link. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bedbugs...

I don't think you have them, and hope you don't. But please read that link, it goes into detail and shows images too. Good luck!

  2. Wow... I never even knew "bedbugs" existed hahaha. I suppose if you're having this problem you should probably wash your sheets or something and contact the caretaker of your apartment about it.

  3. well the bugs may be inside the mattress (who can tell?)and pillows.

1-If you can ---change the mattress & pillows.

(if not dry in the sun etc) -or wash mattress cover -

air inner lining -place back in &stitch again)

2-Wash the sheets ,pillow cases in hot water, add something to kill any larve.

-3-Paint on anti bug insecticide _after advice from a pharmacist)_ on the wooden part of the bed.

4-Allow to dry ,& evaporate b4 using bed again,

This should work , you may need repeating after a month or so.Seeing the doctor  is also very good advice.-Doctor might be able to diagnose  the cause of your problem.

  4. if it looks like a small welt and burns or itches it could be ...just clean the bite with soap warm water and if you need to put cream on it ...you will also have to clean everything with hot water and vacuum really good and hire an exterminator ! And yes they do feed on blood ! Good luck and hope that's not what it is !!

  5. change the sheets and give a good thorough vacuuming around the apartment

  6. bed bugs come out and are most active around 4:00 a.m. some people of ethnic background, especially north american indians are somewhat immune to the bites. if you are 1/4 1/8th or less you may get a delayed reaction. check your mattress ribbing. usually blackish coloured deposits appear. if you or a friend have a cat, they will find them for you. there is a bed bug epidemic in winnipeg right now. a lot of very informative websites exist, i suggest you check out a few.

  7. i don't think blood is typical of bed bugs. And bed bugs are usally hard to see. It usally is more like an itchy sensation whenver you crawl in the bed. In fact for some people the bugs don't even bother the person who usally sleeps in the bed but someone else could use it and flip out.

  8. If it's only in the face ,it should be an allergic to some thing .If in other part of the body ,take a look at edge of the mattress where the fabric joint with on magnifier ,some time think of having bed bug make allergic too.

  9. If you don't vacume your bed at least once a month and if you don't flip your matress every once in a while, you probably do have bed bugs. Cleaning your sheets isn't the only way to prevent bed-bugs.

  10. They might be mosquito bites. Do you get lots of them on your part of the planet? We get them in warm weather in the UK. Try putting a net curtain over your open window, it might solve the problem. I hate mozzies and midges!

I think bed bugs would be all over your bod and not just your face.

Also, have you changed your laundry detergent? I started with a rash many moons ago and found it was caused by using Biolgical soap powder.

  11. Go to a doctor and see what they are. You might have a sickness, ask him if there is any medacation to help it
