Bed bath and beyond wedding registry?

We got married April 26th. My husband wouldn't let me open some of our wedding gifts (like new plates, silverware, glasses etc) until we moved...We are moving this weekend (just down the street) So i put the box of dishes in my car, drove down the street (literally our old address was 1375 now its 1512 on the same road.) I had unpacked most of the dishes at the new place but there were a couple of dishes left in the box because the dishwasher was full.. hubby went to the new place last night and was finishing my job (as im sick and was sleeping) he came home and told me that one of the dishes was broken into a lot of little pieces.

If we pack up the dishes and take them back and tell them we just opened them and they were broken, will they exchange? They do not have open stock of these dishes...im really disappointed as this was a sixty dollar set.

  1. My experience with Bed Bath & Beyond's registry has been nothing but great. We got married Dec. 1 last year, and just now have gotten around to exchanging and returning things we received from our registry (we were moving and getting settled, too). They had no problem taking back the towels, plates, etc. that we had received but changed our mind on, so I'm sure they wouldn't have any issues with your exchanging something that was broken. Just explain the situation to them.

    Good luck!

  2. BBanB is great with returns.  Try it, I think they'll do it.  Return the whole set.

  3. Would that be fraudelent ? You opened the box 4 months ago , most stores have exchange policies for 90 days only.

You could have broken the stuff during the move, people do not exchange things when they break them themselves.

TO CHESNEY: ***I'm sorry If I've been very beyyotchey lately. You are nice person and I sometimes come a cross the wrong way. Where I meant to say was, if you didn't know if you you broke it yourself during the move, it would be impropper to return it. Good luck

  4. Bed Bath and Beyond is great in regards to their return/exchange policies. They are one of the only stores that I've been able to walk into with a broken product, no receipt and have them return it without any questions asked.

If you explain the situation to them I am almost positive that they will just take it back. If they give you a hard time just ask to speak to the manager. I am sure that they will understand the situation. We bought a vacuum from there, but we lost the receipt and the box - it broke about 2 months after we got it. We took it back, told them the story and they gave us a store credit. It was easy...

I don't think it should be a problem.

  5. they are great with exchanges and will take themback!  Just tell them everythign was jsut opened due to a move and you just found it!

  6. they have great customer service I bet they would if you are polite with them. They deal with these types of situations all the time.

  7. It has been more than 90 days since those dishes were purchased. You can ask, but they do not have to honor your request to exchange. The fact that you didn't unpack them in a timely manner is hardly their fault.

  8. Even if they did brake during the move, odds are they will still take them back. I mean they are just going to ship them back to the ware house anyway. It is worth a try. Call them first, tell them it was a wedding gift, you just opened them, no reciept (do you have a reciept?) and see what they say. It is worth a try.

  9. I would give them a call and run it by them.  If the person you talked to says they will, get their name and take them up there ASAP.  I think they should since sometimes people don't send gifts until after the wedding anyway.

My fiance didn't want to open anything until after the wedding but I made him open everything since it's all being shipped and I don't want this kind of thing to happen.  I'm glad I made him after hearing this.  Men can be so stubborn!
