  1. It is said that taking B Complex vitamins, or perhaps only B1, will deter the bugs from biting.  The same is said of garlic.

Myself, I do not get "bug bites," but I don't think it's that they don't bite me.  I've seen them bite me.  I just don't get the itchy bump afterwards.  Though I haven't tried bed bugs.

B vitamins are water-soluble and so they do not become toxic; excess is excreted in the urine.  However, some people find that taking a large dose of B vitamins before bedtime keeps them awake.

Now I wonder if you couldn't dust your mattress seams with boric acid powder; it kills bugs but is not toxic to humans.

  2. There are a lot of guesses as to why some people get bit by insects more than others.  I think its related to metabolism and that's something we can not change.  I have heard may people tell me all the things they have tried, most were not effective.  It wouldn't surprise me if you are not getting adequate extermination in your housing.  Eggs can be deposited in cracks and seams in the floor and walls and they can put them between boards in furniture.  If they have done a fogging extermination there still may be areas that were missed.  If you haven't already you should ask for the mattresses to be replaced. I certainly would get my CO involved.  He/she doesn't want people in the unit living in miserable conditions.

  3. The fact of the matter is that all of you are getting bitten.  Only roughly 50% of people react to the bites.

I know your pain regarding the extermination process, i have went through something very similar to what you are describing and i sincerely hope that you got (or will get next time) a guarantee from the exterminator.

There is nothing you can eat to make them not bite people, unfortunately, i wish there was.  However, they are attracted to your CO2 and body heat, nothing else.

  4. Change your mattress....get the pest control to exterminate them once for all...!!! Why prolong the process to be bitten again...???
