Bed bugs or mites?

Lately I've been seeing these very tiny red bugs (and I mean bright ) all over my desk and bed (which happen to be near the window I leave open.) I've never seen them before, so I'm wondering if they're a type of mite or bed bugs. I haven't been bitten at all yet, so I don't believe theyre bed bugs. When you squish them, they leave a bright red stain. What could they be? I live in DC if that makes any difference.

  1. I have no idea

  2. You had better take them to a professional for evaluation

  3. you have juvenile "clover mites" or if there is a birds nest close by it could be "bird mites" but my feeling is clover mites

  4. you seem to have bed bugs, i never seen them before till i got them and they were so annoying. they are very difficult to get rid of and when you get bitten your skim may not react to the bit, when i got bitten i would get red dots alll over but when my hubby and my son got bit they did not have any reaction to the bite. so here are some facts. they take months to get rid of even years, you need to get special sprays for  them and spray every day, they cost aobut 80 dollors,  get a new bed and carpet, you have to check ever small place in the house cuz they were hidden in small corners of my son's crib!  wash all your clothes,  they can live up to a year without food! they are the best travelers in the world,  if you sleep somewhere else they wil follow you becuase of the carbon dioxide that you breath out, thats what turns them on, just keep cleaning and cleaning  if you do it they will be gone in about 2 to 3 months,  good luck and i hope it will work out, P.S. they spread fast as soon as we had them from  my hubby's boss, everyone in my apr. building had them then the whol block!
