Bed o’ Roses Handicap 2011 at Belmont Park – Hilda’s Passion may race, Starlight Racing and Charles Glasscock hopeful
Belmont’s Park offers many highlights such as the Belmont Stakes, which is held during the 56 day-spring Championship.
The race track also holds races for a period of 37 days in the fall championship. The highlight of the 56 days spring Championship is the final leg of the Triple Crown, more commonly known as the Belmont Stakes.
But thoroughbred horses can also make a show of their brilliance in the Bed o’ Roses Handicap.
Bed o’ Roses is a Grade 2 event, which caters to fillies and mares. It is run over a distance of seven furlongs and has a purse of 150,000.
Starlight Racing and Charles E. Glasscock are buoyant about Hilda’s Passion’s chances in the Bed o’ Roses. The speedy four year old bay filly has been performing brilliantly at Belmont Park.
She won the Grade 2 Vagrancy Handicap held on June 4, 2011. She was sent in with winning odds of 2-5 in the Vagrancy Handicap. She proved that she was rightly favoured in the Vagrancy Handicap by getting hold of a smashing 5 ¼ lengths. Vagrancy Handicap
has a purse of about $150,000.
Todd Pletcher, who trains the daughter of Canadian Front, has full faith in her ability to manage the pace as she has sufficient amount of stamina.
He said:
“Obviously, she’s a filly that is at her best on dirt. She’s talented enough on [artificial surfaces] and turf, so she’s versatile in that respect. She’s a free-running filly and her style suits dirt. She’s been better as a 4-year-old; her races have been
less taxing. I believe that’s due to her physical maturity more than anything”.
Hilda’s Passion by winning the Vagrancy Handicap boosted her career status to three wins from five starts let alone in this year.
Apart from her smashing performance in the Vagrancy Stakes, the filly has many other remarkable performances to her claim, which include the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie held on February 13, 2011 and the Grade 2 Inside Information held on March 19, 2011. Both
races were held at Gulfstream Park.
Javier Castellano has been holding the reins for Hilda’s Passion in all of her starts in 2011 and will again get her mount in the Bed o’ Roses. The filly has been assigned a weight limit of 124 pounds.
She is installed as the 1-5 morning line favourite and will be breaking from post number 6. The race is the ninth on the race card of the races to be held on July 3 at the Belmont race track. It is hoped that Hilda’s Passion outshines in the race.
