Bed wetter?

My seven year old son still wets the bed at night. Any advice on how to get this to stop?? I don't get angry with him, he is not allowed to have water before bed, he goes to the bathroom before he goes to bed..but none of this is working. My husband said he wet the bed until he was 12..is this sort of thing hereditary?

  1. This could possibly mean he has a Urinary Tract Infection, but this is only possible if he is sexually active, and at seven years old I am guessing he is still under the impression that babies come from storks. Maybe he has been having nightmares that he doesn't remember and they are making him urinate. Either way, you should monitor this and if it continues, I would get some medical help.

    Hope this helps<33

  2. Believe it or not bed wetting is more common than you think.  I still have one at 8 that does it from time to time.  Just continue what you are doing.  Encourage only sips of water 2 hours before bed and potty right before.  I highly recommend using a protective cover on the mattress.  They are really cheap at Wal-mart.  Don't wake him up, my pediatrician told me it's worse for a child to be woken to potty but it's better if they wake up on their own so it doesn't disrupt their sleep patterns.    You might want to also consider using Goodnights.  They are now designed to look like boxer shorts and they will keep him dry and protect the bedding.  If he's worried just about just tell him lots of kids do this and in time he'll grow out of it.

  3. he could be afraid to get out of bed, make sure thair are no dark spot's like under his bed even look under his bed before you tell him good night i had a problem with that when i was little never told any one until now.

  4. yes those sort of things are hereditary. but it could also be just a coincidence that your husband also wet the bed and your son might even have a urinary tract infection. i would take him to the doctor

  5. It can be medical but in the case of one of my children she just slept so soundly that she would fail to  wake up. She finally outgrew it at age 9. I doubt that is hereditary.

  6. Take him to a doctor.  I have known of several children who had a physiological problem with their bladders, rather than a psychological problem with their minds.  The doctor pinpointed the problem and the child was spared the grief of more bedwetting.   At least eliminate the the possibility that it could be physiological.   Check it out.
