  1. My man had one when he was younger and his mother said it was worthless he had already wet the bed by the time it went off and he learned to ignore the alarm...he's still good at that..anyway I would talk to your pediatrician they would be able to help you with this.

  2. while alarms and stuff may make it easier for you, it may be stressful on him, he will outgrow it with time, but they make absorbant sleep pants that they sell everywhere for children for a reason, it's common, some kids take a while

  3. The best thing to do is to not allow the child to drink before bedtime. Also make sure they use the bathroom before bed. If the child gets cold, they could also wet the bed, so make sure there are plenty of blankets/sheets. Check the child before you go to bed to make sure he/she is covered.

Most importantly, if the child is still wetting the bed at this age, let them know that they don't have to be ashamed. Work out a plan with them. Tell him/her that if he/she wets the bed, the new sheets are going to be located "on the dresser, in the closet, or any special designated spot." You want him/her to change the sheets right away and put the soiled sheet in the hamper, nearby. Important: Make the child change the sheets.

This will teach him/her to train themself to use the bathroom every night before bed, drink less at night, and take care of their own soiled sheets.

Don't make a big deal out of it, but be firm in asking him/her to put the new sheets on their bed.

Lots of young children wet the bed, and I even know some adults that did it into their 20's. Eventually they grew out of it. Usually after conditioning their own bodies and learing to care for their own sheets/clothes.

Be patient. I don't have much faith in alarms. When a child is awakened, but falls back to sleep before getting up to use the bathroom, they may have more of a chance to wet the bed. Disrupted sleep does more harm than a few soiled clothes.

    Good luck.

  4. My son is 8 and he wets once or twice a night.  I know the tedious laundry you are sweating over.  My son's pediatrician said sometimes bed wetting in older kids (such as 8) can be caused by sleep apnea.  My son stops breathing in the night and gasps without waking, plus he SNORES very loudly.  Needless to say he is getting his tonsils and adenoids out next week and we will find out.  He also has ADHD type of behavior and sleep apnea can sometimes cause ADHD symptoms and bed wetting.  We'll find out next week.  You may want to check into it and pay close attention to your sons night breathing to catch a clue if this has anything to do with it.  Good luck.

    UPDATE to your question:

My son is huge for his age, he is not chubby huge but he will be 8 in 2 weeks and he weighs 80lbs. and wears a mens shoe size 6  and pants size 10 or 12 and  shirts size 12..  He is a very big boy for his age.  Is your son large for 8 also?

First of all does he snore when he sleeps, if so I would take him to the pediatrician and talk to him about it especially if he is irritable during the day.  Kids with sleep apnea do not get a good night sleep and they actually sleep in a different sleep mode thus robbing them from the needed amount of REM (rapid eye movement) cycles.  They have trouble waking up to pee.

I hope this helps, let me know.
