Bedford Road 550 Maiden on 23rd February with bright chances for Westmead Diva
Henlow will stage the 550 metres flat race, the Bedford Road 550 Maiden on Thursday, 23rd February. The race that offers the winner £150 is to be contested for by six hounds.
The strongest contender among the lineup is the two-year-old Westmead Diva, Westmead Diver’s daughter out of b***h Westmead Oak. The two-year-old cracked into the 2012 season on 9th February at Henlow in a Grade A4 race over 460 metres.
She was the 5/2 joint favourite for the race and finished sixth while the other joint favourite, Maldini Hare settled into the fourth slot. The race was won by Aidan Abet who got on the other end of the wire in 28.10 seconds.
Westmead Diva did not let the other chances go waste and struck a straight on victory right in the next start. She won a Grade A4 on 17th February. The 13/8 joint favourite was across the wire in 27.78 seconds, in command by 2 ¾ lengths.
Corrakelly Lark, the other joint favourite finished the race third behind the winner.
Today will be the third start of the new season for Westmead Diva.
Savana George, Kinloch Brae’s three-year-old brindle son out of b***h Highview Peppy, is also in for a third start of the new season. On 2nd February, he was second in a 460 metres race. Savana George was beaten to second after the domination
in the final 2 ¾ lengths. The race was won by Savana Ted.
However, he did not wait long to post a victory and got more active in his next start, leading the field by a staggering eight lengths. He clocked the 550 metres distance in 33.95 seconds. Leapy Lady concluded the race closest to the winner.
Yet another potential candidate is Swift Tilly, Hades Rocket’s four-year-old black daughter out of b***h Swift Blitz. She started off her new season by finishing the race sixth and got grip of her rankings after the next two tries.
On 25th January, Swift Tilly was second against the two 4/6 favourites of the race, Coolavanny Jane and Ministry Millie who shared the victory due to a dead heat. Then on 8th February, Swift Tilly won the Ladbrokes Mobile Arc Trial
Stakes against the 6/4 favourite of the race, Glenside Pearl, who finished second.
