After his termination from Worcestershire, Adrian Shankar has suffered another blow as the minor counties team, Bedfordshire, has also cancelled his contract on the orders of England Cricket Board (ECB). The batsman is going through the police investigations
for allegedly providing wrong information in his documents.
Before joining Worcestershire two weeks back, Shankar provided fake documents. When the team management verified, it was found that the player had mentioned his age as 26 instead of actual 29. Moreover, he had also stated his averages and records wrong.
The documents also contained his lucrative records in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 during this winter but the researchers found  nothing significant in this regard.
Worcestershire axed Shankar two days back with the statement, “It quickly became evident that documents provided in order to satisfy the club's obligations to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and Wales Cricket Board were unacceptable.”
The team passed on the documents to the local police to investigate the matter. The ECB, which is also analyzing the matter, directed Bedfordshire to sack Shankar.
The West Mercia police as undertaken the case and launched investigations. The batsman is likely to face severe penalties if he is really found to be guilty.
Shankar’s scam has spurred tension among all the county teams which are alarmed at their players’ biodata.
It is for the first time in the English County Cricket that a player has been ousted for such a reason.
Shankar has never been an impressive player. His average in the first class cricket is just 19. He has just one 50 in his 21 innings so far.
The batsman has played with Bedfordshire for five years. He left the team in 2008 and singed a two-year contract with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806.
The 29-year-old right-handed batsman hails from Berkshire. He is a Cambridge University graduate in law. He made his first class debut on 13 April, 2002 with his University team.
Shankar has no excuse and evidence to defend himself now. He is absolutely tight-lipped and has not issued any media statement about his dismissal and future yet. He is likely to accept every type of punishment that is imposed on him by the police.
