Bedi admonishes the media for pressurising http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 to score 100th century – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bishan-Singh-Bedi-c48133, the former Indian captain, has lashed out at the media for the enormous amount of unnecessary hype regarding Sachin Tendulkar’s much-awaited 100th century.
“I ask each of you. Why are you breathing on his back to get his hundred,” he demanded. “It's not fair. Leave the kid alone.”
Tendulkar, acknowledged as one of the greatest modern batsmen, already has a substantial list of achievements, including the top spot on both list for most runs in ODIs (18201) and Test matches (15470).
Despite all this, his latest milestone of 100 centuries, of which the Little Master is 1 short, has become a cause of fascination for the media and the masses.
Tendulkar scored his last ton (111) against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the 2011 World Cup, and ever since the mega event,  speculators have taken to indulging in an enthusiastic game of ‘will-he-or-won’t he’ be able to reach the coveted landmark. Expectations were
high from the veteran in the ongoing tour Down Under as his fans desperately awaited his 100th century, which has yet to materialise.
After the disappointments of the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 , where his highest individual score remained 80, the 38-year-old has had a mediocre time in the ongoing Commonwealth Bank series so far, which further has seen him falling into a batting slump,
with disappointing scores of 2, 48, 15, 3, and 22 in the last five innings he has played.
As the frustration and pressure grows, so do calls for the veteran batsman’s retirement.
“Having served http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kapil-Dev-c70234.
However, Bedi disagrees, saying the decision to retire is Tendulkar’s to make, not Kapil’s or anyone else’s.
“That's Kapil's opinion. It is Tendulkar's prerogative when he has to call it a day. I don't think, any of us here is in a position to say when Tendulkar should retire,” he said.
