Question:

Bedroom Decorating Help!!?

I just moved into a new apartment and I got everything done expect for my bedroom. I choose the color which is Beher's Peacock Feather Blue with white trimming and a white ceiling. My only trouble now , is that I'm having a hard time decorating it.

I want it to be funky and stylish and have a mix of cool colors but at the same time I want to look put together and more than like an adult's room than a teenager. (Which is what started happening when I went to the JCpennys and they started giving me things I would have put in my room years ago.)

The room is completely empty expect for my bed with its plain white head board. So I'm all for tips on anything ..chairs , lamps bedding etc.

Nothing too expensive, I'm a 19 year old college student and a single mother so I want something decent in price but not too cheap.

Thanks so much for helping me out! I really appreciate it!

  1. First of all, LOVE that peacock blue... what a fabulous color choice.  Here are some ideas for accessorizing / decorating.

BEDDING - Choose a white duvet that you can wash/bleach easily and that will grow with you as your tastes change.

ACCESSORIES - Accent the room with bright pops of color.  By using accessories to play up bold colors, you'll be able to change the look without spending a lot of money.

    GREAT COLORS to USE

Bold orange is a fabulous accent to the peacock

Bright pinks will also look fabulous

Red is a more classic look and those accessories can be repurposed later and in other rooms if you decide to change.

    INEXPENSIVE IDEAS

If you want to incorporate a little pattern in the room, choose matching curtains and pillows to add some flair.  Shop ebay for bold patterns.  Buy up 7 yards.  Create two curtain panels at 2.5 yards each... just take the raw, unsew fabric and use curtain clips to make a quick treatment that looks fabulous.  Then, use the remaining fabric to create two large pillows for the bed.  You'll have a coordinated look for CHEAP!

For wall art, choose vintage or travel inspired posters.  Posters.com has some great ideas that would work with your vibrant blue walls.  Dress them up with inexpensive poster frames.
