I need help redecorating a bedroom. I want to have a sophisticated "city" look to the room.

I am using Ralph Lauren's "Speed & Style" Collecetion bedding

I have a bedroom set (headboard, desk, dresser, night stand, 2 mirrors) from the 1920s/1930s in a cherry finish that I can use in the room. I was thinking of maybe using some but not all of the pieces (desk and headboard maybe?) I am open to buying new stuff as well.

ANY advise on paint, accessories, furniture, or anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Christine

  1. Red and silver items would really make this room pop! You can use these as accessories or finishes to it. Get silver handles for your furniture, and get red curtains for your windows :).

If your parents wouldn't mind flooring, get a dark wood or dark laminate. Gives it a "classic" look without the room going to classic or too modern :).

  2. I think the vintage furniture would look really cool with that bedding.

As for paint, I think any of these Behr colors would work well:

    "southern breeze" (# 450E-3) - a green

    "plum swirl" (# 680F-5) - a purple

    "heirloom orchid" (# 110F-4) - a mauve

    "waterscape" (# 530F-3) - a blue

I think "plum swirl" would be the most dramatic.

    Good luck!

  3. You could visit art.com and browse the posters of cities. They have some really great ones of New York and Paris. Black and white photos would give it a classic look, framed in black or white. Red roses in white ceramic pitchers on the nightstands would look great with that bedding.
