Hi, yesterday I accidentally stepped on a bee, one of the furry big ones, it stung the side of my foot. Yesterday I played soccer a few hours after the sting because it wasn't bothering me. Then last night I was like subconsiously scratching my foot while I was sleeping, idk I'm kind of a freak, anywho today it swelled up a lot! Like my whole foot is swollen and its itchy and burning. Will the swelling go away? What should I do. I rubbed benadryl on my foot and took IBprofien. What else should I do to make the swelling go down, I tried icing it and it didnt really help.

btw I'm really sorry I can't spell to save my life, hopefully you understand what I'm trying to ask.

PLEASE HELP, my foot looks lop-sidded and hanus!

  1. you should see your doc, as well as the bee sting it may be infected.

  2. Take baking soda and mix it with water, until it becomes a paste, and put on the area that you got stung. you could still have the stinger in there. my mom is allergic to bees, and this is what we do, to help with the swelling. hope you feel much better soon. and if it still becomes worse, go to the doctor!

  3. You should go to the doctor, you could be allergic to bees. The  Dr. could also give you a steroid than might help with the swelling.

  4. I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about things like meat tenderizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a couple of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuets or as long as a weak

  5. So far you have treated your foot right by putting ice on it. If the swelling and itching is still bad then try to put an anti-histamine cream such as Anthisan on it and put that on three or four times a day. You could also spray it with waspeze - this is an anti-histamine and also contains a mild local anaesthetic which will help with the itching

I am concerned abut the severe reaction so far. If it has affected your whole foot and the itching spreads anywhere else on your body then you may be having an Anaphylictic reaction and that is serious. Should this happen get professional help right away. If you start to have any breathing difficulties then dial the emergency number quickly.

Good luck and hope that what I suggested helps to sort it out.
