Question:

Bee sting on back of arm, can't get stinger out?

I'm 15, and I'm alone for the weekend. I just got stung by a bee, and I can't reach the stinger well enough to squeeze it out or scrape it off with a knife. I don't know my neighbors well enough to ask them for help, my friends live too far away, and I'm not calling 911 because it doesn't hurt unless I touch the area around it. It's not that swollen.

What should I do? Will it fall out on it's own?

I can't drive yet, so that isn't an option.

  1. Try calling someone to take you to a doctors, if that gets infected, it will hurt extremely bad, if that is not an option try using tweezers by a mirror, then washing the area with anti bacterial soap, and putting a band aid or gauze on it.

  2. have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one.

Use a strip of duct tape about three feet long. use it like you would dry you back with a towl. let the glue on the tape pull it out.

Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuts or as long as a weak

  3. Poor you! If you can reach it put some vinegar or bicarbonate of soda on it and leave it. The wound will fester and force the bee sting out. When your parents/carers get back get them to look at it and try to get it out for you.

  4. If you can't see it leave the area where you got stung at and leave it alone. Try to get that area sweaty so your skin cell with push it out. If you can see if get a tweezer and put it out.
