Bee sting question..

I got stung by a bee 2 days ago and it was fine it didn't really hurt. I have never been bothered by bee stings. But last night it became real swollen and itchy and is still is this morning. I was not able to treat it because I was walking at the time and it was not bothering me when I got home about a half hour later. Could this be why it is still swollen?

It's possible that the stinger is still in there. Gently scrape the would with the edle of a piece of paper or another light, flat object. If it "catches", the stinger is in there. try to remove it with tweezers. Then put anti-biotic ointment on the would, and take an antihistimine.

If you don't feel the stinger, or can't get it out, go to a doctor.

the stinger could be still in there never pull it out upwards try scratching it out w. ur nail sideways or you may have had an alergic reaction to it i never had problems w/ bee stings b4 but when i was stung by a yellow jacket i had an alergic reaction. it may have been a different type of bee that stung you this time hope it gets better.

You should go see your Gp hun, let him/her take a look at it, just to be on the safe side.

I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco,baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days
